Sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) is a very effective foaming agent. It is an anionic detergent and surfactant found in many personal care products such as soaps, shampoos, toothpaste. Used in wetting agent formulations, liquid detergents, cleaners, shampoos and laundry detergents. SLES is also surfactants that is used in many cosmetic products for cleaning and emulsifying properties. SLES 70% dissolves readily in hard and soft water and provides a consistent foam character. Synonyms: Sodium lauryl ether sulfate; Laurylether sodium sulphate; Lauryl ether sulfate sodium; Sodium lauryl ether sulphate; Sodium laureth sulphate; CAS #: 68585-34-2.
odium lauryl ether sulfate is an anionic surfactant. Its excellent detergency makes it one of the key components of rinse-off products, as a primary surfactant. In addition to cleansing power, SLES is distinguished by excellent emulsification and foaming abilities, and compatibility with the majority of surfactants (all except cationic).Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate can be used for wood coating formulation.
Sodium laureth sulfate (sometimes referred to as SLES) is used in cosmetics as a detergent and also to make products bubble and foam. It is common in shampoos, shower gels and facial cleansers. It is also found in household cleaning products, like dish soap.
Sodium lauryl ether sulfate(SLES) is an anionic surfactant which is widely used in rinse off products as a primary surfactant. In addition to excellent detergency (also referred as cleansing), it also has excellent emulsification and foamability. It is major component of rinse-off products. It is compatible with all surfactants except cationic.
Sodium lauryl polyoxyethylene ether sulfate may decompose at high temperatures (above 50 degrees Celsius) or in acidic environments (pH=5). This decomposition is due to the hydrolysis of alkyl ether sulfates. Given the ease with which alkyl ether sulfates hydrolyze at high temperatures, this product should be avoided in environments above 50°C.
Application of Sodium lauryl ether sulfate
Sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SOLS) is an anionic surfactant that is readily soluble in water, effectively resists hard water, and possesses excellent detergency, emulsification, and foaming properties. Its mild washing properties do not damage the skin, making it a common chemical used in the production of personal care products such as soaps, shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, and toothpastes due to its strong cleaning and Femulsifying abilities. However, it is important to note that while this compound exhibits good cleaning and emulsifying properties, long-term use may cause skin irritation and dryness. Therefore, proper dosage and usage methods should be followed. In textile processing, surfactants are frequently used to improve the contact angle between fabrics and water, making them easier to wet and improving dyeing and printing effects. Sodium lauryl polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (SOLS) has excellent surface activity, enhancing water permeability and adsorption, and promoting the penetration and diffusion of dyes and auxiliaries. Furthermore, it can act as a clarifying agent, removing impurities and grease from the fabric surface, improving fabric cleanliness and dyeing uniformity.
