Sodium hypophosphite monohydrate #CAS10039-56-2
Sodium hypophosphite, also known as sodium dihydrogen hypophosphite or sodium hypophosphite, has the chemical formula NaH₂PO₂. It is a colorless crystalline powder or a pearly crystal with a pearly luster. It is soluble in water, alcohol, and glycerol, but insoluble in ether. It is hygroscopic. It is relatively stable when stored in a dry state, but decomposes rapidly when heated above 200°C, releasing the toxic gas phosphine, which is flammable. It can explode when exposed to strong heat or mixed with oxidizing agents such as potassium chlorate. Sodium hypophosphite is an ideal reducing agent, mainly used in electroless plating, electroplating, and organic synthesis industries. With in-depth research and the large-scale increase in its derivatives, its application fields are constantly expanding, and it has become an important inorganic salt product.
Application of Sodium hypophosphite monohydrate
Sodium hypophosphite monohydrate is used for electroless nickel plating. Sodium Hypophosphite is capable of reducing nickel ions in solution to metallic nickel on metal substrates as well as on plastic substrates.
Sodium hypophosphite monohydrate is an emulsifier or stabilizer that is a white, odorless, deliquescent granular powder with a saline taste. It is also prepared as colorless, pearly crystalline plates.
Sodium hypophosphite monohydrate is used for electroless nickel plating agent and water treatment agent. It is also used in petroleum fields. Further, it is used as a food additive. In addition, it reduces nickel ions in solution to metallic nickel on metal substrates as well as on plastic substrates.
